Rabbi Joshua Maroof

Rabbi Joshua Maroof received his baccalaureate degree with
honors from the State University of New York at Stony Brook, and
his masters degree in Educational Psychology from the City
University of New York (CUNY). He received semicha
(ordination) from Rabbi Yisrael Chait, Rosh Yeshiva of Yeshiva
B'nai Torah in Far Rockaway, New York.
Rabbi Maroof is a creative writer and
poet. He has authored many essays/papers addressing the fundamental
issues related to Judaism. Rabbi Maroof is known as a dynamic
public speaker and lecturer. During his tenure in New York, he was
widely sought after as a teacher and counselor in Jewish day
schools, post-high school yeshivot, and at
seminaries.
Prior to his
arrival at Magen David Sephardic Congregation, Rabbi Maroof was
Rabbi of Beth Aharon Sephardic Congregation in Riverdale, New York.
He also served as Rabbinical Director of Ben Porat Yosef, a
Sephardic day school in New Jersey, and as Director of an advanced
Judaic studies program for women.
Rabbi Joshua
and Rabbanit Elana Maroof live in Rockville, Maryland with their
three lovely children - Netanel, Zehara, and Yedidya.
Our
Rabbi's communal responsibilities include teaching classes,
coordinating adult education, readting programs for our youth, and
ministering to the pastoral needs of the
congregation.
Rabbi Maroof
